For the second straight game, an impressive offensive performance by the Tigers overshadowed a solid outing by the team’s starter. Bill Freehan, Willie Horton and Don Wert all went yard in the contest and both Horton and Freehan finished with three RBIs a piece. Mickey Stanley and Al Kaline also pitched in and they both scored a team high three runs.
Joe Sparma improved to 2-3 on the season. He gave up two runs on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts in the complete game.
